Moviegoers Escape huge Fire At Nairobi’s Famous IMAX Cinema

Motorist have been asked to avoid a section of Kaunda street, Nairobi after 20th Century building in Nairobi’s CBD caught fire.

A fire broke out at lower section situated below the shopping complex that hosts 20th century cinema hall on Monday causing panic on its premises, and the city as smoke billowed out of the building while people were inside.

The cause of the blaze which occurred in the afternoon at the most popular movie theaters along Mama Ngina Street is yet to be established.

However, no one was reported to have been injured as the fire erupted.

“People were inside when the fire broke out. The fire brigade acted promptly and the fire has been doused,” a witness wrote

Early reports suggest the fire started in an office downstairs. While the fire was brought under control, dispelling the smoke was a challenge. Firemen did not use oxygen masks.
