Migori police compiling charges on teenage lovers expecting baby

Teenage pregnancy has an issue that dominated the headlines during national exams period and is still a burden on the nation.

Police in Migori are holding two teenagers, a 13-year-old boy and his 15-year-old pregnant girlfriend.

The two, who hail from Kakaro village in Suna East sub-county were arrested on Sunday evening after the mother of the girl reported the matter to the police demanding for the boy’s arrest.

Suna East sub-county Police Commander Mark Wanjala confirmed the arrest saying they two are detained at the Migori police station and will arraigned in court.

He said the police are now compiling the charges for the two minor adding that they must be subjected to necessary legal process.

Wanjala at the same time appealed to parents to offer guidance to their children to help handle the rising cases of teenage pregnancies in the county.

The new nominated cabinet secretary of education professor George Magoha during his vetting touched on sex education, where the Starehe Boys Center alumni said it is important for the discussion to start at home.
