Kenya-Namibia to boost trade by strengthening shipping lines

Transport CS James Macharia has revealed that Kenya is exploring ways of strengthening the shipping lines between Kenya and Namibia as this will greatly boost trade between the East Africa region (through Mombasa) and South West Africa (through Walvis Bay)

This comes after his tour to Namibia’s port at Walvis Bay with President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday.

Like Kenya, Namibia is building its new container terminal by reclaiming land from the sea.

CS James Macharia noted that Kenya is also utilizing the latest cutting-edge construction techniques as we reclaim land from sea for the first three berths of Lamu Port.

Once completed, Lamu Port will play a vital role in spurring development in northern Kenya as part of the LAPSSET Transport Corridor.

CS Foreign Affair Monica Juma seconded the Transport CS ny mentioning that Walvis Bay is a natural twinning port for Mombasa- another bridge that strengthens Kenya-Namibia partnership in the maritime domain.
