Probe into alleged graft and abuse of office by high-ranking judiciary has taken a fresh twist after a Supreme Court judge invited the DCI to investigate her.
Not only fighting for her job but also her reputation,Justice Njoki Ndung’u, through her lawyer Andrew Musangi, asked for a parallel probe alongside those of Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
“Our client takes the allegations against her extremely serious. Apart from judicial misconduct, these allegations suggest criminal culpability on the Supreme Court judge.
Such matters call for immediate, thorough and impartial investigations by a department equipped to delve into the matter and unearth the factual basis of these claims and even more importantly initiate prosecution of anyone found culpable,” a letter to the DCI read in part.
Justice Njoki expressed her will to submit phone call records and any documents that detectives may require.
She asked the DCI to investigate all parties mentioned in a petition filed before JSC and touching on Wajir gubernatorial election case.
The judge also wants anyone, including the complainant Jared Ngeri and lawyers who helped file the petition probed and charged if found culpable.
