PICTURES! Harambee Stars Treated Like Kings in Ghana

Tanzanian giants Simba SC beat Congo’s AS Vita Club to storm to the Quarter Finals of CAF Champions League last weekend. But the game was not without controversy.

AS Vita lodged a complain with CAF, accusing their hosts of spraying their dressing room with poison.

Last year, Ghana’s Asante Kotoko accused Kariobangi Sharks of giving them a small team bus.

I can give more examples of the horror that away teams encounter in African football.

In 2013, Kenyans and Nigerians were involved in a nasty row after the national team Harambee Stars was forced to train in a dusty primary school pitch and stay in a substandard hotel.

Perhaps this is the reason why African football cannot develop. But in a rare show of hospitality, Ghana has treated the Harambee Stars team currently in Accra like Kings.

The Kenyan team landed in Accra on Thursday for an AFCON 2019 qualifier and were given a state of the art bus.

They are also being accommodated at the luxurious LA-PALM Beach Hotel. The hotel which borders the ocean has enough space for warm ups.

Even Kenyans have praised this top notch hospitality.

Ata chakula iko tu sawa.

We hope Ghana are not fattening us for slaughter ahead of Saturday’s match. Harambee Stars Players led by Wanyama should use this as a motivation.
