Chelsea Gives Real Madrid a Big Slap Over Hazard

Chances are that Chelsea striker Eden Hazard could still be at Stamford especially if Real Madrid will give up on their pursuit of the star.

It is no secret in the media that the Belgian superstar is eyeing up a big money move away from the club in order of fulfilling his dreams of winning the Champions League title and possibly challenging for the Ballon D’or title, which has been dominated by players in the Spanish League.

And after the appointment of Zinedine Zidane, who is a known admirer of Hazard, it is widely expected that the Belgian will reject the contract offer from Chelsea and sign for Real, with reports suggesting the Blues would like around £98 million for the thirteen goal Premier League star.

But Marcotti has claimed that Hazard could actually still sign a new contract, if Madrid do not come calling in the summer window, especially as they have a number of other targets they would like to acquire.

“[Hazard joining Madrid is] not inevitable,” Marcotti said on ESPN FC. “We always need to remind ourselves of this, whether it’s Hazard or [Paul] Pogba.

“Real Madrid do not have infinite resources, despite what people think.

“They’ve spent a lot of money on Eder Militao already. They can only buy one, possibly two, A-list superstars on top of that.

“And beyond that if they want to buy more they need to go and get rid of players. Chelsea are respecting that, if the offer comes in the summer, he’s going to go.

“If it doesn’t come, because he’s only got a year left on his deal, if it doesn’t come and they’re not that interested in him, and Chelsea offer him a new contract, which they will, then he’s going to stick around.”

Could Hazard actually stay?

All indications suggest that Hazard will leave the club at the end of the season as it is his dream to play for Madrid, but if they do not come knocking then the likes of PSG or Juventus may, as they have also shown an interest over the past months.

Madrid are keen on Hazard so it would be a shock not to see a move made.
