President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Twitter account,@UKenyatta, has disappeared from the site shortly before 10:30aM.
The President’s communication team had earlier in the morning posted on the social media page after the president addressed Kenyans in the diaspora country of Namibia.
It was not initially clear what happened to the account but a quick search could not reveal the account.
In such cases where the account says “Sorry that page does not exist,” a user may have deleted it or Twitter may have suspended their account which Is believed is more likely.
But chief of staff Nzioka Waita sought to explain, saying, all the social media handles were suspended to allow for remedial measures.
On account of unauthorized access to the official social media handles of H.E the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta .All official social media handles for the President have been temporarily suspended to allow for the necessary remedial measures to be undertaken.— Nzioka Waita (@NziokaWaita) March 22, 2019
This comes shortly after a screenshot of his declaration on the war on corruption circulated on social media.In the Tweet, he said, “If you are corrupt, we will fight you. You can be my brother or my sister or my closest political ally, but if you are corrupt we will fight you.”
Twitter suspends accounts for several reasons, if someone follows or unfollow folks in a large quantity or if the are suspected of spreading spam.
