In the tweet that caused sharp divisions before the suspension of the president’s official handle, President Uhuru Kenyatta warned his political allies, friends and family against corruption, insisting that he will not hesitate to fight those walking against his wishes.

Two versions of Uhuru’s speech to Kenyans living in Namibia have emerged, few hours after State House claimed that Twitter account of the Head of State had been hijacked.

“If you are corrupt we will fight you. You can be my brother or my sister or my closest political ally but if you are corrupt we will fight you. I won’t be clouded by ethnicity or status in my quest to leave behind a united nation and I will continue championing for Kenya’s unity,” fired Uhuru.

One of the video which is believed to be edited, the president does not mention the term ‘closest political ally’ while in the video believed to be original, which corroborates with his tweet, the term is used.

“President Kenyatta should have stood firm behind the “controversial” tweet. Ama namnagani my frens! Na tupewe original video,” tweeted NTV journalist Ken Mijungu.

“Here is the part of the clip that was ‘edited out’ ‘You can be my closest political ally, but you are an enemy of the people of Kenya and we will fight you’ ~ President Uhuru Kenyatta,” Augustine Sang posted what he claims what an edited version.

But another user by the name Atanas, posted another video in which the president is heard mentioning the term ‘political allies’, adding that it’s the correct version.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta’s speech to Kenyans in Namibia….. containing the part that PSCU removed (…. you can be my closest political ally but if you’re corrupt we’ll fight you).#Question: why did the PSCU edit original video, ama kuna mtu alituma missile? ” he said in reference to the video.

State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita had informed the nation that the president’s social media accounts were hacked into. And in a separate tweet, Waita also said that the malicious intentions could have been precipitated by Uhuru’s fight against corruption.

“It seems the President’s stand on corruption has generated all manner of reactions,” said Mr Nzioka in a tweet.
