How Uhuru and Ruto are Misleading Kenyans to Believe they are at War

“If you are corrupt, we will fight you. You can be my brother or my sister or my closest political ally but if you are corrupt we will fight you. I will not be clouded by ethnicity or status in my quest to leave behind a united nation and I will continue championing for Kenya’s unity,” These were the words of Uhuru Kenyatta, which apparently led to the suspension of his social media handles.

From outside, you would think that the President and his Deputy William Ruto do not see eye to eye. Some people have interpreted the above words as being directed to Ruto.

While in Mombasa on Wednesday, the DP said that he was being targeted by the war on corruption.

“There has been an attempt to hijack the war on corruption and turn it into a war against specific individuals. In the attempt to wage this convoluted version of the war on corruption, many government programmes and projects, as well as many innocent public servants, have become casualties,” Ruto said.

So, are these two people at war? Only a stupid person would believe this theatrics that Uhuru and Ruto are not reading from the same script.

Economist David Ndii has this to say about the drama we are currently seeing:

“Jubilee corruption is a joint criminal enterprise. Uhuru ups rhetoric, Ruto threatens to pull the pin.”

When it comes to corruption, Uhuru is as guilty as charged. The President is the appointing authority, why hasn’t he sacked all the corrupt Ministers? Remember how he mocked the Auditor General when he tried to investigate the Eurobond?

Uhuru speaks tough on fighting corruption, but ends up doing nothing. Ruto on the other hand comes in and tells us about how he is being targeted.

So nobody is really fighting corruption, in fact nobody is interested. Our two leaders know that we like sensational stories. They have divided us into team Ruto is corrupt, Uhuru is not.

As we continue arguing within ourselves, the country is being stolen from every corner.
