Hacking concerns raised even as Statehouse explains Uhuru’s social media shutdown

State House confirmed the deactivation of the President Uhuru Kenyatta’s social media accounts , adding that some unauthorized access had been detected .

State House noted that the deactivation was meant to “allow for the necessary remedial measures to be undertaken”.

“On account of unauthorized access to the official social media handles of H.E the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta .All official social media handles for the President have been temporarily suspended to allow for the necessary remedial measures to be undertaken,” State House tweeted.

A quick search on all social media platforms indicates that the accounts are unavailable.

Before the deactivation of the accounts, the president had put out a post affirming his commitment to the war against corruption.

“If you are corrupt we will fight you. You can be my brother or my sister or my closest political ally but if you are corrupt we will fight you. I won’t be clouded by ethnicity or status in my quest to leave behind a united nation and I will continue championing for Kenya’s unity,” he posted.
