Governor Obado Denies Bribing Judge Jacktone Ojwang

Migori County Government has come to the defense of embattled Supreme Court Judge Jackton Ojwang’ who is set to face a tribunal over bribery claims.

The County executive officer for roads and public transport Moses Chamwada refuted claims that the Migoti County Government constructed a road leading to judge Ojwang’s rural home in exchange for a favorable ruling.

This comes after the Judicial Service Commission JSC recommended the formation of a tribunal to probe the conduct of Ojwang.

Terming the claims as baseless Roads CEC Moses Chamwada said the said tarmacked roads don’t lead to the judge’s home.

The petition against Justice Ojwang’ by Nelson Oduor Onyango and eight others accuses Ojwang of grounds of misconduct, conflict of interest and breach of the judicial code of conduct on the part of the Supreme Court judge.

They took issue with the fact that Ojwang’ was among Supreme Court judges that ruled on a case involving Migori county, yet he a close ally of Governor Okoth Obado.

Ojwang’ has refused to appear before the Judicial service commission to respond to the allegations leaving the Commission with no alternative but to recommend for the formation of a tribunal to investigate the claims made against him.
