With indications clearly showing that KDF’s prolonged stay at War ton Somalia is slowly coming to an end, the country which has been struggling to govern itself is now coming into reality that in some few months they will probably be back on their own.
It is only this week that KDF soldiers at unnamed base in inside Somalia pulled out from their military base, destroyed it and moved towards Kenya Somalia border. This move has already left tongues wagging as to what is next among the citizens.
Leaders in Somalia also question the same saying the move will expose the country to Al-Shabaab threats.
The leaders say Kenyan troops started withdrawing from Somalia after moving out of Busar, KDF’s command centre in the northern sector of Jubaland, a town that was liberated in the first 100 days of their entry into Somalia.
This move is highly attributed to the recent marine borderline stand off between Kenya an Somalia each claiming the triangular area.
On Tuesday morning, a contingent of troops made the final withdrawal from Busar.
Mr Aw Hirsi, the Minister for Planning and International Cooperation in Jubaland, told the a local media house that the withdrawal had left the people uncertain as to whether the departure of the Kenyans could secure the region lasting peace and tranquillity, or whether it could further land their weary souls into the hands of Al-Shabaab militants.
Most of the citizens where actually worried and urge the two nations to quickly solve the maritime issue to ensure that the stability which was slowly coming back to the country is sustained.
Kenyan Soldiers under AMISOM made a grand entry into Somalia in 2011 under the operation dubbed Operation Linda Nchi. Since then, the soldiers have made major progress in liberating most of the regions which had been taken over by Al-Shabaab.
