Why Uhuru’s Promise to Youths is Doomed to Fail

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been a man whose words cannot be taken seriously and most often he does not fulfill his promises.

Before his first election as the President of Kenya in 2013, he promised a lot during his campaigns, including the famous laptop to all schools- a long awaited promise that never came.

The List of Uhuru’s Failed Promises

1.President Uhuru Kenyatta had promised to set up five international stadiums in Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa, Nakuru and Meru.

This was to promote talent among’st the young people. The idea is yet to be implemented not forgetting the facility would have helped promote sports tourism where both local international athletes would have used it as a training ground.

2.Free Wi-fi to every major town in Kenya,no implementation so far.Coined itself as a digital government. The Uhuruto government promised to enhance digital learning mostly to young learners.Nothing much has been heard since then.

3.Zero tolerance on corruption. Corruption in Kenya has really escalated in Kenya from the National Youth Services,Youth Fund,Eurobond, land grabbing of public land, corruption in the government parastatals and ministries. The list is endless

4.Inclusive governance of all tribes, only two tribes running the government. Most appointments are done to only people who are close to the government or parties that worked closely with ruling government during the last general elections.

And now on Wednesday the President told the youth they stand to benefit from the many employment, job creation and economic empowerment opportunities presented by the Big 4 Agenda projects.

He told Kenyan youth that the transformative development blueprint presents a strong enabling platform to enable them secure a bright future and maximize their potential.

Besides, it can also be remembered that just recently, the president awarded a 91-year old Moody Awori a state job- a decision that was objected by many.

The president himself said that youths cannot be trusted with leadership position.

It is just a matter of time to know if Uhuru’s pledge to youths will be fulfilled.
