Religious belief continues to be an important factor in opposition to societal acceptance of homosexuality and same-sex marriage.

Religion and sexual orientation have historically appeared to clash. For centuries, “the religious condemnation of homosexual acts, and even homosexual persons, was unquestioned.

The relationship between religions and homosexuality is complex and has fluctuated immensely throughout time. Every faith holds a unique view on sexuality that has come to shape how we perceive sex. Oftentimes, these convictions are adjusted as we adapt to the diversity of sexual expressions in the world.

Reverend Jide Macaulay who resides in the UK took to Instagram to announce he will soon be ordained as an Anglican priest. Seems like an average, every day, normal announcement. Right? Well the thing is, Jide is an openly gay preacher.

"It is a delight to share this news, I am to be ordained Anglican Priest at the Church of England on June, 30 2019," he said.

A bunch of his followers were stoked after hearing the news but a few doubting Thomases termed the preacher as hypocrite.

Apparently, he was disrespecting the sanctity of the church by being gay.
