Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed he regrets to have not played alongside Lionel Messi in his football career.
Ferdinand played alongside some of the best players in world football during his glittering career but admits he would have loved to play in the same team with Messi.
The United legend shared a number of memorable years with Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo before he left for Real Madrid. Ferdinand’s encounter with the Argentine was in the Champions League where he had a lot to do in marking Messi.
“I’ve played with Ronaldo, I haven’t played with Messi,” Ferdinand said.
“I’d have loved to play with him as well. Being able to play with two of the best players ever, would’ve been a great thing to be able to say that. Pique has done that, he’s a lucky man. Would’ve loved to say I’d play with both.”
