Kenyan Ethiopian plane crush victims relatives cry of abandonment by the state

Families of the grieving families of the victims of the ill-fated Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 302 Boeing 737 Max jet have mixed feelings about government’s support.

For instance the family of Immaculate Odera says that they have been left on their own following the Ethiopian Airlines plane crash that claimed the lives of 36.

Speaking during a meeting between bereaved families and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, on Thursday, Ms Odera’s widower Denis Adhoch said that he was concerned that his family and others had been left on their own.

The families are requesting that the state make their lives easier as they mourn their loved ones. This is related to the stalled DNA results of their relatives and legal representation.

This is as transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has revealed that the Kenyan government will not be able to provide lawyers to the families of Ethiopian Airlines crash victims.

Speaking on the issue, Macharia affirmed that the families will receive legal advice from the State Law Office.

However the likes of Mr Richmond Mureithi, a brother in law of Mr Isaac Mwangi who died in the crash, said that his family was satisfied with the help they had received so far from the State.

“We are grateful that we were supplied with air tickets to Ethiopia to see the crash site and the support the ministry is giving us,” he said.
