2 Rift Valley counties give back public land worth Ksh 780 million

Two Rift Valley counties have given back grabbed land back to the national government.

The land from two counties amounts to Ksh 780 million allagedly grabbed according to Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC)

EACC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Twalib Mbarak said the 11 parcels of land in question had been illegally acquired prompting investigations.

According to Mr. Mbarak, the property – which has now been returned to the government — was reclaimed through an asset tracing program that took two years.

According to the commission, some of the recovered properties include 27 public officers’ residences at the Nakuru Municipality Block valued at a total of Ksh.74.2 million.

Another parcel of land which had been reserved for a Survey Camp by the Department of Survey in Nakuru County valued at Ksh.42 million, and Nakuru Municipality Block belonging to the Postal Corporation which was disrupted during irregular alienation process and is estimated at Ksh.150 million were reclaimed.

In Bomet County, the commission recovered parcels of land in Sotik Township valued at Ksh.4.2 million which had been reserved for the construction of a stadium.
