Turkana receives more funds than 98% of the counties yet people are dying like flies

From the list above …which county should the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Directorate of criminal investigations George Kinoti begin with ?

Yes you got me right, since 2013 General Election Nairobi and Turkana counties have been bagging the largest share of billions given to counties from the national government kitty.

But, for now lets forget about Nairobi for a while. Let us unleash the truth in Turkana where people are dying like flies and animals converted to dry bones all because in the 21st century, a county cannot invest in its people.

Counties that have been named as among those largely affected by the drought are counties that receive the largest share in revenue allocation from the National Government. Kilifi 10.8B, Turkana10.7B, Mandera 10.1B, Wajir 8.4B, Machakos 8.3B#GovernorsOfDrought pic.twitter.com/Z9g8Zoqtpl— Kevin Munyui (@ismunyui) March 20, 2019

The sharing of the revenue is contained in the proposed County Allocation of Revenue Bill 2015 as prepared by the National Treasury.

In 2015, Turkana got Sh10.2 billion, up from the Sh9.1 billion that it had received in the previous year financial year.

Fast forward, in 2019 , only six counties got more than Sh10 billion allocated by Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich in the Sh2.7 trillion budget tabled in Parliament.

The counties are :Turkana, Nakuru, Mandera, Kilifi and Kakamega among others.

Why should people be dying then in Turkana ?

FACTS ; Governor Nanok receives over 14B from National. TURKANA also receives more funds than 98% of the counties. WITH over 7B on top of his national share as equalization funds! WHO IS FOOLING US NOW #GovernorsOfDrought pic.twitter.com/o4CVzrmIZS— Kibet Benard (@KibetBenard_) March 20, 2019

Nanok should be sacked . He has done all the wrong things for personal gains at the expense of his county people . #GovernorsOfDrought pic.twitter.com/uC9xVf0TEQ— PRETTY KENYAN 😍 (@PrettyKenyan10) March 20, 2019

People are facing drought in Turkana due to poor governance in the county. The county has failed to put up the correct mitigating measures despite receiving a lot of funding from the national Treasury. #GovernorsOfDrought pic.twitter.com/PxCdgPugE0— Kevin Munyui (@ismunyui) March 20, 2019
