TSC official fined sh 1.2 million for defrauding teachers in promotion scam

Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti has read that Samuel Munguti, senior Human Resource Officer was accused of soliciting sh 154 k from teachers purporting he could promote them.

The court has convicted the Teachers Service Commission official to sh 1.2 million fine in default 1 year in prison to run consecutively for each of the three counts.

Munguti was facing charges of obtaining money by false pretenses.

The officer allegedly committed the crimes in September and October 2015 at the TSC’s headquarters in Upper Hill, Nairobi.

In one case,Munguti is said to have received Sh 20,000 from Alice Neri and Sh 35,000 from Julian Wambua,on September 15,to help them become Curriculum Support Officers.

Awhile back in 2018 Munguti denied all the abuse of office charges and was released on bond of Sh 250,000 or a cash bail of Sh 50,000.
