Former Kakamega senator and Ruto’s ally Mr. Bonny Khalwale has come out guns blazing to defend the embattled former sports minister Rashid Echesa.
Khalwale said that Echesa deserves a fair chance and justice and that if there is any suspicion of wrongdoing he should not be humiliated. ”Since Rashid Echesa was appointed as Minister for Sports and Heritage a year ago, he has been close to me and we have been corresponding. However, Echesa has not confided in me about how he was conducting his office and affairs of his ministry” he said.
Strictly on that basis and the fact that Echesa and I both come from Kakamega county, I would have nothing more than to say that Rashid should be given his fair chance for justice.
Khalwale said that Echesa just like anyone else, deserves justice, and if there is any suspicion of wrongdoing, he should not be humiliated. He stressed that Echesa should be confronted with the facts and not with rumours and innuendo.
”It simply means that he should be given justice that he deserves. I can comment without fear that justice should also include treatment similar to that which his predecessors have been given” h added.
This comes as many members allied to jubilee William Ruto’s side continue to pose questions on the President asking him to come out with clear reasons as to why Echesa was terminated. Many are suspecting a witch hunt mission since Echesa was one of Ruto’s point-man in the cabinet.
