Police reveal politician behind Barclays bank safe holding Ksh2B fake currency

In a statement, Barclays bank says that the contents of personal safe deposit boxes are not part of the bank’s deposits and are only known to the client, this explains why the bank had no prior knowledge of what was being kept in the safe that was found holding over 20 Million US Dollars at Queensway Branch.

The six suspects are:-

Dr. Erick Adede-Owner of the Box

Mr. Ahmed Shah- Fake Investor

Ms. Elizabeth Muthoni

Ms. Irene Wairimu Kimani

Mr. Boaz Ochich – Bank official

Mr. Charles Manzi-Bank official

Also held for statement recording is a witness who would have been conned.

Dr. Erick Adede-Owner of the Box had Contested for the Homa Bay Constituency parliamentary seat in 2017 and according to detectives, he is allleged to have been bringing potential investors to the bank to see his ‘bounty’ and police suspect he was on a mission to defraud the business people.

The client was cornered by the officers on Tuesday morning after he came to check on his lavishness ‘.

The detectives appeared to have been on the trail of the suspects for a while.

The six were arrested at about mid-day at the bank. It is said that Erick Adede who owns the safe deposit box, had been spotted a number of times displaying its content to strangers.
