Tempers in the National Assembly reached a boiling point on Tuesday as MPs were in each other’s throats regarding the current drought situation.
Questions were raised on the use of billions of shillings allocated to alleviate hunger.
The legislators also questioned the county governments’ commitment to deal with the calamity that has affected about 13 counties.
The MPs went for each other’s throat during the debate on an adjournment motion by Ndhiwa MP Martin Owino.
County governments were blamed for turning a blind eye as the effects of the drought continue to bite.
At some point, majority whip Bernard Washiali (Mumias East) referred to Lugari MP Ayub Savula as an “honourable thief” in reference to his case in court over the Sh122 million advertising scandal at the ministry of ICT.
Angry, the Lugari MP tried to drag in the name of the Deputy President William Ruto in the mess.
