The road has not been so smooth for Kenyan judges of late who have been under fire with some being petitioned for removal from office like top chief Justice David Maraga.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has recommended that President Uhuru Kenyatta establishes a tribunal to investigate Supreme Court Judge Jackton Ojwang.

To follow Justice Mutava in sacking, Justice Ojwang is alleged to have benefited from the construction of a road leading to his rural house in Migori County, in return for a favorable ruling involving Governor Okoth Obado.

Justice Ojwang declined to appear in person before JSC a move the commissioners concluded as disrespectful.

In his response to the JSC, Justice Ojwang said he has constitutional immunity and that the commission has no mandate to investigate the issue, a position that the commissioners said left them with no alternative but to recommend the setting up of a tribunal to investigate his conduct
