Cristian Eriksen: Which club should he go to?

Rumour has it that Real Madrid and Juventus are set to enter a bidding war for Cristian Eriksen during the summer transfer window.

Tight Lipped

Christian Eriksen was quizzed about his future at Tottenham Hotspur and continues to be tight-lipped about what this summer will hold.

The Denmark international has joined up with his international media and the Danish media asked him about the rumours linking him with a summer switch to Real Madrid and Juventus.

Eriksen did not appear to take too kindly to the line of questioning.

“I don’t want to talk about it. You write everything anyway, so there is no need to talk about it. I really just want to focus on the national team, when I am here,” he is quoted as saying in Ekstra Bladet.

Denmark coach Age Hareide said: “I’m not talking to him about it. I never interfere with it. Christian is so professional that he does his job in Tottenham, where he has a contract for a year yet. Now it’s about the national team.”

He added: “Christian can go anywhere. It’s not a problem.”

New Stadium

Eriksen was happy to talk about Spurs’ new 62,062-seater stadium though with the club hoping to open next month for the April 3 game against Crystal Palace.

“I’ve been looking at it and it’s an exceptional stadium that will mean a lot to the club for many years to come. I think without a doubt it helps to take the club to take the next step,” he said.

“We have been waiting for a while at the stadium after all, so it will be great to get back to the stadium that will be our home for the next many years.

“Of course, everyone wanted to get away from Wembley as soon as possible, especially at the start of the season, but it is still our second home. It will be good for the fans, and it will be great to come home to White Hart Lane and to a place that feels like our real home ground.”

Top Four Race

Christian Eriksen insists there is no need to panic about Tottenham’s ill-timed recent wobble.

The North Londoners have gone from title hopefuls to a battle to retain their place in the top four after earning just one point from the last possible 12.

Playmaker Eriksen said: “A couple of months ago there was suddenly all the chaos.

“Then we won a couple of games, and then we were in heaven again. That’s how it happens in a Premier League club.

Eriksen also emphatically dismissed the idea that Spurs’ dip is because Mauricio Pochettino’s players are getting tired and their failure to strengthen their squad in the last two transfer windows is coming back to bite them.

“It’s nonsense,” Eriksen, 27, said. “You get used to playing so much. After all, I’ve played many games for quite a few seasons in a row. Rather, it feels unnatural when you don’t play.
