The Woes of former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa continue to pile up. Weeks after being sacked by President Kenyatta and also linked to 32 billion shillings in fake currency nabbed in Ruiru, Echesa on Sunday had visitors at his home in the form of armed police officers who were in search of guns.

The raid by DCI detectives from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit was at his Karen home where the officers recovered a high end gun.

According to the police report at Kilimani Police station, OB68/17/3/2009, the DCI officers took Echesa’s Beretta pistol and recovered 15 bullets during the operation.

Designed specifically for military and law enforcement operators, the APX has been put through extensive testing and evaluation at the professional end user level.

The result is a pistol that delivers superior performance in durability and reliability, ergonomics, trigger, and modularity. The new APX semiautomatic pistol makes Beretta one of the few manufacturers to offer full size polymer and metallic framed handguns in both hammer and striker fired operating systems.

The government has directed that all civilian firearm holders should present themselves for vetting at the DCI training school in South C.

Civilian firearm holders are also required to present their weapons for ballistic examination at the DCI headquarters on Kiambu road.

They are also required to undergo a mandatory mental fitness test.

This formal process contradicts Echesa’s explanation of police officers seeking him out to confirm his gun licenses.
