The Samantha who could feel love and feel a heartbreak when dumped will soon be in the market

Sex robot technology has advanced at an astonishing rate in recent years. Last year, a report by the Foundation for Responsible Robotics showed sexbots could be customized down to the shade of their nipples and pubic hair, and perform 50 automated sexual positions. But up until now, robots have been unable to show emotion. According to Professor Robin Mackenzie, director of Law and Medical Ethics and Kent Law School, artificial intelligence and robotics will one day become so advanced that humans will create sentient and self-aware sex dolls.

Mackenzie went on: “Sexbots will be customized to love us, acquire deep knowledge of us as part of the self-customization process and will be able to suffer. “These sexbots will be able to be customised to become their purchasers’ perfect partners,” she added. And she said the dolls will trigger tensions for their human partners. “Humans as creators should have a duty to protect the interests of created sentient beings and to minimise their suffering,” she added.

Human beings’ need for intimacy will drive the creation of dolls with human-like emotions. In an interview with Techxplore, she said these “self-aware sexbots” will be equivalent to human’s future meeting with an alien. She described these future dolls as “a being who is human-like, but also significantly different”. Sexbots will become “capable of mutuality in sexual and intimate relationships”, she predicted.
