It has now broken the six-month silence to respond to the shootings in two mosques by a white supremacist that was live streamed on Facebook. ISIS spokesman Abu Hassan al-Muhajir is said to have made the 44-minute audio recording, reports the New York Times. He called for revenge and accused the West of “crocodile tears” over the mass outpouring of grief following the killings in New Zealand.

Al-Muhajir called the killings part of a campaign against ISIS – despite the victims being innocent worshippers. He said: “The scenes of the massacres in the two mosques should wake up those who were fooled, and should incite the supporters of the caliphates to avenge their religion. “Here is Baghuz in Syria, where Muslims are burned to death and are bombed by all known and unknown weapons of mass destruction.”

It emerged after the suspected terror attack on a tram in Urecht, Netherlands, in which three people were killed. And it also came after New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Arderns said the nation stood by its Muslim community in its “darkest days”. ISIS’s statement was released on encrypted messaging app Telegram which is propagated by terrorists as a tool for secretive communication.

Al-Muhajir reiterated that ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is still alive despite repeated rumours of his death. He slams Trump as a “frightened and cowardly thief” after his short visit to Iraq last December. US intelligences forces continue to hunt the senior leadership of ISIS – which are believed to be living off-grid somewhere in the Middle East.
