Moses Kuria tells Uhuru-Ruto to resign

Gatundu South Member of parliament has ignited a debate after requesting the Jubilee government to resign.

The outspoken MP in a fiery Facebook post on Monday, he said reports of deaths in Turkana from hunger should be reason enough for the incumbent government to resign.

In the post which was later pulled down, the lawmaker said the government should “resign” as he is “ready to take over”.

He also captioned it: “In any other country, the images of death by starvation should make a government resign.”

His sentiments came in the wake of appalling death reports in parts of Turkana County emanating from hunger.

The government, however, on Monday denied the reports saying that though there have been several cases of death reported in Turkana, they cannot be tied to drought.

“I want to categorically state that the situation is better than last year and year before..the food situation is stable,” said Deputy President William Ruto at Harambee House.

The National Disaster Management Authority CEO James Oduor denied the reports citing that “Yes, deaths were there but they cannot be linked directly to drought. This can be as a result of sickness and other issues.”

Among the worst-hit counties by drought are Turkana, Baringo, Tana River, Marsabit and Makueni.

Already the Jubilee through William Ruto has said that the government has allocated sh 2 billion to mitigate the drought.
