Kiunjuri says government ready to End drought in affected Counties

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has reiterated government effort to end drought in affected counties.

The Cs said that the national government through his ministry will built dams and dikes that will help in agricultural farming.

Kiunjuri said that both national and county government will partner to fight drought.

Already the government is working out on partnership with 47 counties to multigate the brought”he said.

Govt releases KSh 2 billion for supply of food and water to starving Kenyans in Baringo and Turkana

The DP said that the deaths in Turkana and Baringo didn’t results from drought related issues thus no need for alarm.

The national government has approved KSh 2 billion to go towards mitigation of the drought and starvation situation in several parts of the country. ]

This was disclosed by Deputy President William Ruto who also assured Kenyans the country had enough food in its buckets to feed all Kenyans.

“The government has approved KSh2 billion to be spent on mitigating drought that has affected 865,000 people in 13 counties.

Funds will ensure adequate distribution of food, life-saving aid to needy populations, water trucking and complement first-line interventions by county governments.

“I would like to say that there is no need for alarm as the deaths didn’t results from hunger”Ruto said.
