NASA strategic manager David Ndii has disclosed that he could not accept the post of Treasury CS if it was given to him.
The statement by Ndii, came after a tweet that suggested the post should be handed over to him.
“Replacing Treasury CS with David Ndii can help govt not to continue making mistakes. I strongly believe we need an individual who understands Public Finance at a powerful ministry like Treasury,” read a part of the tweet.
The tough talking economist revealed that the reason he would reject the post is due to what happened to John Githongo during the time of former President Mwai Kibaki.
“Short story. My friend John Githongo calls in my house one morning in 2003. He’d been asked to become Kibaki’s anti-graft czar.
“We debate and agree he accept. To cut a long story short, he ends up in exile, a kikuyu traitor, living with body guards for years. Not boarding,” remarked Ndii.
The Managing Director of Africa Economics sentiment was praised by netizens who stated that it was the right approach to the matter.
John Githongo had been given an official governmental position to fight graft in 2003 but later quit in 2005 for unknown reasons.
Githongo however noted that he could no longer continue working in the government and accused certain top ministers of large-scale fraud.
In the same year, the then British High Commissioner to Kenya Edward Clay, had termed the resignation of Githongo as a massive blow to Kibaki’s reign and had left a huge gap in the efforts to eradicate corruption
