Babu Owino puts land grabbers on notice following Mihango ward evictions

Emabakasi East MP Babu Owino has today put land grabbers on notice after the Mihango Ward evictions.

The vocal Member of Parliament stated that as long as he holds his position in leadership, he will not tolerate land grabbing and illegal demolitions.

Babu Owino today met various religious leaders including Bishops and Elders from the community residing in Jua Kali, Embakasi Ward who are now facing eviction yet they have lived in Embakasi East since the early years of independence.

He further met with the community leaders from Chokaa in Mihango Ward who were driven from their homes last week.

The MP mentioned that it is indeed shocking that despite legal occupancy, government permits and titles, his people are being evicted without cause for the benefit of a few well connected individuals.

Earlier this week, Babu Owino requested the government to stop the ongoing demolition in Mihango Ward.

The vocal MP says that the President has laid out affordable housing as his personal priority in the four point agenda he put forward for his second term yet there are government agencies working hard to undermine this vision by deliberately going against this directive.

Instead of building more homes to accommodate more Kenyans, he blamed the government agencies for destroying houses and rendering people homeless.

Following today’s meeting, Babu Owino assured the people who elected him that the people behind this act of grabbing land will be dealt with.

“If this is what used to happen in Embakasi East before then know that from the moment Babu Owino son of my mother was elected Member of Parliament, it has to come to an end!”he said in his post

It is shocking that despite legal occupancy, government permits and titles, our people are being evicted without cause for the benefit of a few well connected individuals.swipe left I want to put the shadowy figures behind these acts on notice. If this is what used to happen in Embakasi East before then know that from the moment Babu Owino son of my mother was elected Member of Parliament, it has to come to an end!
