Akothee initiates feeding fund to support Turkana residents amid hunger menace

Kenyan Female Artist Akothee has initiated a feeding fund to support Turkana residents amid hunger menace.

This comes days after the reports indicating that hunger stricken residents are staring at death and have not eaten for days.

Photos also circulating on the media have revealed the state on the ground which left Kenyans in frustration as some lamented how this is allowed to happen yet some corrupt leaders pocket the taxpayers money.

Some angry Kenyans had suggested that they should not give any donations but the Government should step up and take up responsibility.

Akothee on her end together with Silverstones and African Heritage have called upon Kenyans to send their contributions not for the sake of the rich but for the Kenyans that are in desperate need of help.

The musician also called on celebrities to support the initiative in efforts to help the situation.

Giving an update on social media, Akothee had already received 100,000 withing 8 hours and she encouraged Kenyans to come through with the little they have.

Yesterday, reports indicated that the government has approved the immediate release of Sh2 billion to facilitate drought mitigation efforts in 13 counties which require immediate intervention.

The Deputy President acknowledged that a total of 1,111,500 people in the 13 counties were facing starvation but insisted there was no cause for alarm as Kenya remains stable in matters food security.

Other celebrities who weighed in over the state of hunger and drought in Turkana include, King Kaka, Janet Mbugua among others.
