Sarah Katherine Brooks, 25, has been charged with a felony count of sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority on Friday. The teacher is said to have had sex with the boy, 17, at least three times while tutoring him off-campus. It is alleged one of the incidents occurred when the teen’s mother was away from their family home. She was the teen’s PE teacher at the time of the alleged affair.
Brooks has been released on bond and resigned from her job at Archer High School, near Lawrenceville, Georgia. Archer High School principal Ken Johnson sent a letter to parents explaining that the police were alerted by the school. School bosses had been made aware of the inappropriate relationship. Brooks resigned amid the investigation launched by education chiefs. Johnson wrote: “I can tell you that the teacher has resigned from Gwinnett County Public Schools and the school system will be forwarding information about these allegations to the Professional Standards Commission.”
He added: “While this is not a situation we have experienced at our school previously; one time is too many. “Ethics matter, and the trust our community places in its educators’ matters to Archer and to Gwinnett County Public Schools. “This is not something we take for granted.”
