The mosques have been evacuated following the attack in which ten people were shot where it left one dead. It comes after a far right white supremacist terror attack at two mosques in New Zealand last week which saw 50 people killed.
Police in the city of Rotterdam which is around 40 miles from Utrecht also announced the precaution in a tweet, along with upping security around train stations. Utrecht police also have reported to have ordered all schools in the city to close. The National Anti-Terrorism Coordinator said it had raised alert level to its highest as the suspected shooter was still at large.
