A 28 year old woman, from Maili Sita trading centre in Bahati, Nakuru County, is held in police custody after she allegedly stabbed her 5 year old son to death and thereafter tried to commit suicide.
According to the police, Wangari stabbed her son several times with a Kitchen knife at their home and later stabbed herself on the stomach before she was rescued by neighbors who found her unconscious lying on the floor.
She was taken to Bahati Hospital before being transferred to Nakuru Level 5 Hospital for specialized treatment.
According to the grapevine, neighbors suspect that the woman killed her son and attempted suicide following a marital dispute with her husband who was not present at the scene.
Nakuru North Police boss Jacinta Mwarania who confirmed the incident and said that investigations have been launched to establish what happened.
“The woman was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Investigations are underway to establish the motive of the incident,” said the police boss.
