It Is Now Crystal Clear That Sadio Mane is Better Than Salah, Here is Why

Mane scored the opener at Craven Cottage before a back-and-forth finish to the game saw Liverpool end up 2-1 winners.

The result put Liverpool back at the summit for at least two weeks, due to the international break.

Liverpool are two points ahead of Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

They almost threw the game away in the closing stages of the game, as James Milner’s failed clearance set Ryan Babel through on goal.

Virgil van Dijk headed back to Alisson, who failed to gather the header and Babel tapped into an empty net.

In the closing moments of the game Mane was brought down in the box and the Reds were awarded a penalty.

Milner stepped up and saved van Dijk’s blushes as he rifled the penalty home and secured all three-points in the process.

And Nicol, who now works as a pundit for ESPN, praised Mane for his impact in recent games.

“He’s just bright and he wants the ball constantly,” he said.

“He’s always on the move and he’s an absolute nightmare for defenders when you’re trying to mark a player who is constantly moving wide, in behind.

“And of course he’s putting the ball in the back of the net.

“Absolutely no question about it, Liverpool’s man of the moment is Sadio Mane.”

Mohammed Salah had a game to forget as his disappointing streak in front of goal continued.

Salah has now failed to score in five straight Premier League games, and Nicol had a theory as to why.

“There’s no secret he’s having a tough time,” Nicol continued.

“You can’t fault him for effort, commitment, attitude and everything else.

“But at the end of the day, you have to use your ability, and he hasn’t been able to do that recently.

“He had a fantastic chance to win the game in injury time, one on one with the keeper and he hits it straight at him.

“It just sums up the way it’s going for him right now.”
