Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s son Kennedy Musyoka has refuted claims that his influential father contributed to him getting the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) nomination.
While speaking during an interview with a local newspaper, Kennedy said that his nomination and appointment to EALA was purely on merit.
“Those claiming that my dad influenced my nomination are just ‘haters’,” Said Kennedy
Kennedy was nominated to EALA by Wiper Party and was approved by the National Assembly.
His nomination elicited debate with some politicians and Kenyans questioning it amid claims that Kalonzo forced his son’s name to EALA.
With the 2022 succession politics taking shape, there are claims that Kennedy will play a pivotal role in who controls the Kamba politics.
According to a political analyst Peter Ngure, Kennedy is among future Kamba leaders.
“He (Kennedy) is a smart guy and cannot be ruled out of the Kamba 2022 succession politics,” the analyst said on Sunday.
Kalonzo is among politicians that are widely expected to vie for the presidential seat in 2022 after President Uhuru Kenyatta retires having served for two terms.
