DP Ruto assures that current famine is not acute

DP William Ruto has on Monday chaired an emergency meeting on the biting drought faced in Kenya.

DP Ruto confessed that the drought situation we have this year is better than last years.

“The food situation is stable and prices are within acceptable limits. We have sufficient food in the country so there is no cause for alarm,” stated Ruto.

The situation which has been caused by insufficient long rains has affected
13 counties and 1.1 million people.

DP Ruto said that 2 billion shillings has been approved to be spent this week in water tracking.

“There should be no cause for alarm. The government has put in place interventions to manage the situation with the help of other agencies,” Ruto stated.

Present were CSs Finance Henry Rotich, Agriculture Mwangi Kiunjuri, Water CS Simon Chelugui and Eugene Wamalwa
