On Monday, a lift inside the post modern library at Kenyatta University crashed with a loud bang sending the students into a panic.
The students had thought that it was a terror attack.
The 6000 sitting capacity library which was constructed at a cost of Kshs. 700 million (approx)is touted as the best in this side of the Sahara.
It was clear from the shared pictures and videos that there was struggle and scuffle as some of the students engaged desperate measures to scramble to safety.
Videos posted online shows students scampering to safety with glasses strewn all over the main entrance to the library.
Some reports indicate that students jumped from as high as third floor.
At the time of publishing this post, Kenyatta University’s administration had not released a statement concerning the incident.
However, it was established that the bang was caused by a lift in the library building which malfunctioned and crashed.
Students who were injured in the chaos are receiving medical attention at the university’s health unit.
