Arsenal About to Make Big Money Move For Portuguese Forward

Arsenal are reported to be preparing to make a move for Portuguese forward Gelson Martins, according to the latest transfer rumours.

Martins is under contract with Spanish side Atletico Madrid but is currently on loan with French Ligue 1 side Monaco where he has put in some impressive performances this season.

Martins struggled in Madrid but since joining Monaco he appears to have been given a new lease of life scoring three goals and three assists from just eight appearances.

Arsenal apparently tried to sign the 23-year-old back in January and according to Portuguese media site A Bola, the Gunners will be making another attempt once the summer transfer window opens up.

There is, however, an obstacle in the way and that is his former club, Sporting Lisbon.

Martins left Sporting after being among a group of players attacked by the Lisbon fans at their training ground, Atletico snapped the player up and offered £13 million in compensation, however, Sporting claim they are due £86 Million as that was his release clause.

Until this matter is resolved it is highly unlikely that Martins will be going anywhere.
