AP PATRICK NYAPARA, accused of shooting dead his lover who was a high school teacher, detained 7 days by Kakamega court pending investigations.

Patrick Nyapara was nabbed at the Kenya-Uganda border on Saturday afternoon.

Western Regional Commander Rashid Yakub revealed that the officer was caught while trying to sneak into Uganda.

He was detained at Kakamega Police Station as investigations into the incident continue

Nyapara, who was based at Navakholo Police Station, had been on the run after killing his 24-year-old lover Christine Maonga at their home in Duka Moja.

The couple reportedly quarreled before the AP officer shot the woman three times. The Ceska pistol that he had used to commit the crime was recovered.

The father of Christine Maonga has refuted claims doing the rounds on social media that his 24-year-old daughter was killed by her AP-officer lover for betraying him.

Fredrick Maonga, 60, says he “fully” funded his daughter’s education from elementary to tertiary level.

Social media has been fraught with allegations that Patrick Nyapara, an administration police officer attached to Navakholo post in Kakamega, was the one who paid for Ms Maonga’s college education.

Allegations

According to the allegations, Ms Maonga, upon graduating with a diploma in education certificate; and securing employment, began mistreating Mr Nyapara, including developing other relationships on the side.

Unable to bear with the humiliation, Mr Nyapara shot dead Ms Maonga on Thursday night, the allegations suggested.

Neighbours said they heard three gunshot sounds emanating from Ms Maonga’s house located at Duka Moja in Navakholo at 7pm Thursday. The victim died instantly in the attack.

And now, the father of the deceased, who was an English and Literature teacher at Navakholo Secondary School, has debunked the viral rumours.

Mr Maonga, a veterinary officer in Kakamega County, says he “fully” provided for his daughter, including funding her studies from onset to the postgraduate course she was pursuing by the time she died.

Maonga was a teacher at Navakholo Secondary School. Students from the school engaged police in running battles to protest the killing.

Tension was also high at Navakholo market after the news of the teacher’s killing broke out.

Maonga’s body was taken to the Kakamega County Referral Hospital mortuary.
