Here is the latest on Eden Hazard’s move to Real Madrid following Zidane’s appointment

Chelsea executives are ready to try and block Real Madrid’s attempts to land Eden Hazard this summer even though they will run the risk of losing him for nothing. Real Madrid are expected to launch a £90million bid to sign Belgium international Hazard after re-appointing Zinedine Zidane as manager but the stumbling block is that Chelsea are facing a two-window transfer ban.

Which means that the Blues won’t be able to replace Hazard, who they rate at around £100million. Christian Pulisic’s arrival from Borussia Dortmund in the summer – agreed before the transfer ban was put in place – could ease their worries.

But it is likely that Chelsea will do everything in their power to resist any attempts from the Spanish giants to launch a bid for Hazard. Hazard has been stalling on signing a new deal with the Blues worth over £300,000 a week – despite talks on going for the last year.

He has admitted that it is his dream to move to Madrid, who are ready to splash out big in the transfer market this summer after a highly disappointing season.R

Real could be willing to spend as much as £300m over the summer transfer window to back Zidane’s aims of winning La Liga and a fourth Champions League crown. Real are out of European football’s elite club tournament and have a very slim chance of winning La Liga this season.

Zidane could enact a clear-out at Real, with Gareth Bale, Isco and Marcelo tripped to move on. Luka Modric was also linked with a move to Inter Milan last summer, while Toni Kroos’ future is far from certain.

As for Chelsea, they may struggle to replace Maurizio Sarri with a manager of his calibre should they sack the Italian before the season is out. Sarri faces the prospect of not being able to strengthen his Blues squad for the next 18 months.

And tempting a new boss to Stamford Bridge with those transfer shackles already bolted on would likely deter top managers. As for Hazard, he said in February he has already made a decision on his future.

“I know what I am going to do. I have made a decision,” Hazard told the French radio station RMC. Club executives and fans hope Hazard’s decision will favor Chelsea’s cause, yet in any case the board is decided on its stance.
