The Kimwarer and Dam scandal which saw Ksh 21 billion lost has turned into pure politic with no hope of getting the suspects.

Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has called for the sacking of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti.

While addressing a gathering on Saturday, the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator accused Kinoti of being biased in the fight against corruption.

Murkomen claimed that the DCI boss had made a habit of leaking information to the media before summoning his suspects.

“We were told that Rotich was going to be asked 300 questions before he was summoned. I thought it was propaganda until I realized that he was actually asked 300 questions.

We cannot fight corruption like that. We have to fight corruption objectively. I want to tell the DCI that we are not asking for a favor, neither are we asking him to be lenient. We are telling him to do things according to the law,” Murkomen stated.

His comments come after investigations by DCI into controversial payments for the construction of the stalled Arror and Kimwarer Dams saga in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

It is alleged that taxpayers lost Ksh 21 billion that was meant to build the dams.

CSs Eugene Wamalwa of Devolution, Mwangi Kiunjuri of Agriculture and Henry Rotich of Treasury have already been summoned by the DCI to shed more light into the scandal.

Opposition leaders, however, accused Murkomen of siding with DP Ruto who is alleged to know of information on the money after he said the money lost was Ksh 7 billion and not 21 billion.
