Suspects who attacked a police officer in Homabay County was arrested on Friday.

Confirming the incident, the County’s police commander Esther Seroney revealed that Omondi confessed stealing the gun, a Cesca pistol, to boda-boda operators after they confronted him.

The police, however, did not recover 15 rounds of ammunition that were stolen together with the pistol.

“The magazine might have dropped during the fight between the officer and his attackers,” stated Seroney.

“The suspects are at Homa Bay police cells and they will be arraigned as soon as investigations are complete,” continued Seroney.

The gun was recovered after an intensive search that lasted for more than eight hours at Omondi’s house in Makongeni estate, Homa Bay County.

The attacked officer, a corporal, was taken to Homa Bay Referral Hospital after sustaining two cuts on the head as a result of the attack.
