The vast majority of Manchester City fans polled by the M.E.N want Pep Guardiola’s side to be drawn against Porto in the Champions League quarter finals.

City earned their place in the last eight with an emphatic 10-2 aggregate victory over Bundesliga side Schalke, confirming their advancement in the competition on Tuesday evening with a 7-0 mauling at the Etihad.

The Blues are into the hat for the quarters along side three fellow English teams for the first time since 2009, in Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham. As well as Barcelona, Juventus, Ajax and Porto.

City fans were asked which of the seven possible teams they’d most like to see their side come up against in the next round in a poll on the Manchester Evening News website.

An overwhelming 63 per cent of supporters voted for Portuguese champions Porto, who overcame a flailing Roma in the last-16 to advance to the quarters.

In second place with 11 per cent of the vote was Ajax, who destroyed Real Madrid in the last-16 in a performance that is sure to go down in Champions League folklore.

Manchester United‘s astonishing comeback against PSG is another such result and the Reds took third place, with 7 per cent of City fans hoping for a Manchester derby on the European stage.

The quarter final draw will be held at 11am on Friday March 15, where the potential semi-finals will also be drawn, meaning that City will know what their path to the final on June 1 at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium will be.
