Safaricom Dropped Free WhatsApp In One Data Bundle, It Just Couldn’t Keep Up

A couple of weeks ago, Safaricom announced a new data product christened All in One Data bundle. In essence, the service is said to offer flexibility to Safaricom customers who need a product that offers minutes and data. The bundle is particularly appealing to a lot of people, and we even compared it to similar products such as Platinum.

Also, carriers have been supplementing their data products with free WhatsApp for some time now owing to the popularity of the chat app in the Kenyan market.

However, it will no longer be the case with All in One Bundle as Safaricom has scrapped it off. This development may not significant, but we are a little sad to see it go. It is still available in other data bundles (daily purchases), so at least there is that. We are also not sure what prompted its closure, but there is a possibility the service is no longer feasible for All in One (well, with more than a gig of data depending on the purchased package, do you really need free WhatsApp? Besides, the app hardly consumes substantial data unless you are sending or receiving media files).
