Mbadi, Orengo disagree over Uhuru, Raila partnership

A day after Siaya Senator James Orengo claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta and African Union High Representative on Infrastructure Development Raila Amolo Odinga want to form an alliance, ODM Party Chairman John Mbadi has denied the reports.

Orengo, a close ally of the Luo political kingpin had alluded that he was planning to form an alliance that could see him rise to power when that time comes.

Orengo said that the party was going for the nation’s top seat and it was holding meetings with leaders of Jubilee to make sure Raila becomes the next President.

Speaking outside parliamentary buildings yesterday, Mbadi said there is nothing like that happening.

He said that he has no doubt that the party will take part in the elections but there is no deal as alleged by Orengo.

He also said the 2022 race is a bit too far hence it is early for someone to make such claims.

In addition he said, “It is premature and too early for anybody to purport to be speaking for ODM and implying that ODM has already entered into any arrangement with any party or individual,”

The handshake between Raila and Uhuru shifted the political gears of this nation.
