Good News! Safaricom to recruit 300 student interns for its new Eldoret call centre

Safaricom will recruit 300 interns from various local universities in Uasin Gishu County to work at the new Eldoret call centre.  Safaricom Chief Customer Officer Sylvia Mulinge says the internship program will help build partnerships with learning institutions and provide an opportunity for the students to learn and gain experience in the job market.

“Our plan is to offer three months paid internships for students from various campuses within the county. This will not only help us to build partnerships with the learning institutions but will also enable us offer the youth work experience and mentorship,” said Mulinge.

The Call Centre built at a cost of 900 million shilling will further enhance Safaricom’s efficiency in handling the over 150,000 calls addressing customer’s needs.

The telco records 24 million daily use of the USSD solution and over 700,000 smartphone users using the mySafaricomapp. The company introduced Safaricom Jitambulishe, a Voice Biometrics identification system.The systems grant customers to use their voices for authentication before accessing assisted services such as resetting their M-PESA PIN and PUK requests.
