Manchester United fans are in meltdown over having to face Lionel Messi and co. when they come up against Barcelona in the quarter finals of the Champions League.
The quarter final was drawn on Friday, and Barcelona were pitted as United’s next opponents.
The last time the two sides met in the competition, Barca came out on top in the final 2011, ousting Sir Alex Ferguson’s side 3-1.
Lionel Messi scored that evening, just as he did in the final in 2009 when Barca also beat United, 2-0.
If United manage to defeat the Catalan giants over two legs, then they face the tasty prospect of Porto or rivals Liverpool in the semi finals.
Here are some of the best responses to the draw – and having to face Messi – on Twitter.
One said: “I’m picturing Messi running at Jones in my head and I see an own-goal masterclass incoming.”
Another said: “Man Utd fans should go and check Messi’s stats against teams. #UCLDraw.”
Another went with: “God bless @ManUtd …what else can we say? Do you think Messi jokes at this level?#UCL.”
One social media user said: “My mother didn’t raise me all these years just to watch Smalling defend against Messi.”
Another simply said: “Messi gonna lmfaooooo poor Man Utd.”
One bluntly wrote: “Messi and co are going to to DEAL with Man Utd.”
