World Bank lauds Kenyatta’s pledge to restore Kenya’s forest cover to 10% by 2022

World Bank Interim President Georgieva has today  lauded President Kenyatta’s pledge to restore Kenya’s forest cover to 10% by 2022.

This comes after the head of state assured delegates at the One Planet Summit of Kenya’s commitment in scaling up environmental and Climate Action.

Uhuru Kenyatta noted that his administration has set clear targets through the National Green Growth Strategy in order to achieve global sustainable development goals.

His pledge to increase Kenya’s forest cover to 10% by 2022 is a way of the nation playing it’s part as a member of the global community.

The President also made it clear that Kenya is working hard to do her part in the preservation and conservation of forest resources, as the safe and best pathway for the survival of humanity and life.

The head of state reiterated that investment in sustainable management and conservation of forests is one of the most effective interventions to combat climate change.

He also stated that Kenya’s forestry sector is a key investment sector to realize sustainable development goals.
